A Strategic Favorite in Pawleys Island Since 1985

River Club has earned a reputation as one of the Grand Strand’s best tests of course management. Designed by Tom Jackson, it opened in 1985 and has been a staple ever since. You’ll find large greens, wide fairways—and plenty of water, which factors into nearly every hole. The 18th, a par 5 that dares big hitters to go for it in two over water, is one of the most talked-about finishing holes in the area.

A great lay-out but very obvious all they care about is maximizing profits. Traps were a joke, haven’t been machine raked in weeks. Slow bumpy greens with multiple grass types growing. So disappointed as this used to be a MB gem! Terrrible!

In my opinion the best course in Myrtle Beach. Beautiful and stunning backdrops, azaleas in full bloom along the ponds. Course was in amazing condition and the layout was very enjoyable. Staff were excellent, and the fish chowder at the turn was a great touch to the authenticity of the area. #1 course and experience for our trip!

Love Mike Stranz courses, but Tobacco Road is my favorite, then True Blue. Windy when we played. I’m a 17, shot a 94. Greens became quite quick as it warmed up, lots of dirt or fertilizer on the balls early on.
